Subject: 9444 City Code/Parking Violations Signs and Penalties Date: Fri, 18 Aug 1989 14:54:00 -0500 ORDINANCE NO. 9444 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE, PART II, SECTIONS 24-304, 24-322, AND 24-327 CONCERNING PARKING VIOLATION SIGNS AND PENALTIES. _________________________ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE That Chattanooga City Code, Part II, be and the same is hereby amended as provided herein: SECTION 1. That Section 24-304(a) be amended by deleting the words and figures "seven dollars ($7.00)" and substituting in lieu thereof the words and figures "ten dollars ($10.00)" and that Section 24-304(c) be amended by deleting the words and figures "two dollars ($2.00)" and substituting in lieu thereof the words and figures "five dollars ($5.00)". SECTION 2. That Section 24-322 be amended by deleting wherever the same shall appear therein the words and figures "two dollars ($2.00)" and substituting in lieu thereof the words and figures "five dollars ($5.00)". SECTION 3. That Section 24-327 be amended by designating the current Section 24-327 as "Section 24-327(a)" and by further inserting a new Section 24-327(b) as follows: "(b) The rates for twenty (20) minute meters in the City shall be twenty-five cents ($0.25) for twenty (20) minutes, the rate for thirty minute meters shall be twenty-five cents ($0.25) for thirty minutes, the rate for sixty minute meters shall be fifty cents ($0.50) for sixty minutes, the rate for two hour meters shall be twenty-five cents ($0.25) per hour, and the rate for five hour meters shall be ten cents ($0.10) per hour. The City Traffic Engineer, in accordance with traffic engineering studies, may from time to time change the maximum parking time on existing meters as may be reasonably necessary to encourage short-term parking, to produce vehicle turnover, and to provide convenient, plentiful and dependable short-term parking. SECTION 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect two (2) weeks from and after its passage, provided that the increase in the fines as set herein shall be delayed, if necessary, beyond the effective date until parking tickets can be printed specifying these new fines and penalties and all parking meters can be revised to charge the new parking rates.
